Always Onward

Long Island Chess Kids was started by FIDE International Master Milos Scekic who decided after more than 20 years of playing chess professionally, to share and pass his knowledge to the youngest in our Long Island community.

We know that playing chess has proven to help students enhance their creativity, improve their power of concentration, develop and expand critical thinking skills, boost memory and retention, and achieve superior academic performance. Additionally, chess has been shown to augment problem-solving capabilities, provide cultural enrichment, advance intellectual maturity, and enhance self-esteem. We know that these are qualities that school administrators, parents, and teachers desire for their students.

Long Island Chess Kids is an organization made up of the finest scholastic chess instructors, school coordinators, parents, and young players. Everyone involved with Long Island Chess Kids is encouraged to share their ideas on how to improve and spread the chess word to our community. School can start their own curriculum or after-school programs with the help of Long Island Chess Kids.

Our experience has deep roots, dating back to 2003 when we started organized programs in the Manhattan public schools. Today we are involved in teaching in several Public schools, P.S 116, NEST + m school, P.S 163, Lower lab school,The Speyer Legacy school passing our knowledge to more than 600 boys and girls in morning curriculum classes and afternoon afterschool chess activities.

Our students are showing excellent results at State and National tournaments winning prestigious awards and trophies, but most important they are improving not only in chess, but scholastically as well.
